Belated Saturday Sky with Bonus Balloon

Last Saturday I managed to keep my blog in mind & catch a few nice cloud shots early in the day

Then life got busy, so they still had not been posted by late afternoon.

The universe was really playing tricks on me last Saturday, because I was suddenly confronted with a bunch of much, Much better Saturday Sky pictures, but then didn't end up having any time to post any of them at all.

This past weekend was the Forest Park Balloon Race in St. Louis. It's no where near as big as the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, but it's still quite a big deal around here.

We've been lucky in that even the years where we don't manage to get to Forest Park, we still get a balloon or two out our way. This year was no exception.

This last two pictures in particular almost looks as if we are in Albuquerque instead of Missouri. There's a site near us which is being turned into a new shopping center. (Hence the mound of dirt.) However, it isn't nearly as open as it appeared to the balloonists from the sky, so it took a while before they could figure out how to get their chase vehicle close enough to put the balloon away.

Third of a Dozen -- March Pictures

This post is a bit late. I've been short on time for downloading & sorting pictures lately.

All pictures are from the 24th of March. My husband & I went hiking at a local nature center for our anniversary.
The Redbud trees were just beginning to bloom.

The wildflowers were very pretty, & a welcome sign of Spring's arrival.

Second of a Dozen

I'm squeeking in just under the wire this month, but I haven't had a chance to get pictures prepped & ready until now. Here are my February 2007 Shoot a Dozen Days pictures. There really aren't any rules saying that all the pictures have to be from the same day in the month, but I've decided that is how I want to do it.

These are all from February 17th, 2007. January was the month of ice, & February the month of snow this year. I'm hoping March will end up being the month of Spring, as I'm definitely ready for warmer weather.

As always, pictures may be seen larger by clicking on them.

Sledding is always fun on a snow packed hill!

It was cold enough for long enough that several of the local lakes & ponds froze nearly solid, which is rare around here. With the snow, it was almost hard to tell where the edges of the ice began, unless you already knew where they were located.

The kids also enjoyed looking at the snow & being able to pick out which animal tracks were which.
